PONYSTEP MAGAZINE TO LAUNCH AT PARIS FASHION WEEK ON MARCH 6
Ponystep Magazine, founded by Richard Mortimer, will launch its first issue on March 6th at Paris Fashion Week.
The magazine is a new bi-annual publication focusing on fashion, music, lifestyle and high octane personalities. A shockingly honest Janice Dickinson interview, Vivienne Westwood in conversation with Katharine Hamnett, Mark Ronson dressed in Roland Mouret, right through to a transsexual with 38 FFF breasts and back again – Ponystep promises to be unlike anything else out there. Two legendary  female  stars  separately grace the first cover: Jerry Hall by Sølve Sundsbø and Kylie Minogue by Matt Irwin.

“I told Prince he was a fag, I told Mick Jagger he had a little dick, if you don’t like it then piss the fuck off.” – Janice Dickinson ...

A wealth of talent has come together to create the final magazine including world class photographers and artists Sølve Sundsbø, Matt Irwin, Phil Poynter, Terry Tsiolis, Ben Weller, Daniel Jackson, Nick Waplington and Alice Hawkins.

Editor Richard Mortimer is himself a renowned figure in London’s counter-culture, having founded the now legendary  Boombox, which would define East London nightlife, boasting guest DJs including Kylie, Christopher Kane, Bjork and Agyness Deyn. He says of the magazine:
“Eight months ago I decided I was ready to move Ponystep forward from it's online presence and into a magazine...  naively ambitious, but ballsy all the same!  I wanted the magazine to be about "who I love" rather than the latest press obsession or fashion muse and I think I have managed to achieve that.  None of the celebrities featured can be described as conventional by any stretch of the imagination - I think the issue really celebrates the outsider - the inspirational outsider.”

Richard’s fashion credentials stretch far and wide, having previously worked with Prada on the infamous Double Club and with a plethora of designers, artists and brands from Jean-Paul Gaultier to Beth Ditto to MAC. Working closely with Richard on the magazine is Phoebe Arnold (Fashion Director) – Phoebe was previously the fashion editor at POP magazine and most recently fashion editor at Love Magazine.

Paris Fashion Week seems the natural home for the Ponystep launch with Richard’s relationship with Paris spanning  the past decade. In recent years Richard has hosted regular Ponystep.com parties in the city as well as working with Parisian record label Kitsune to create CD compilations – “Kitsune x BoomBox” and “Kitsune x Ponystep”. As well as the magazine launch, an exhibition of selected photos from Ponystep will be on show at Colette in Paris.
The launch party will be held on March 6 in collaboration with MAC.
